		<description>Children of the LRC

We are starting a page to unite all the kids that grew up in the Longfellow area in the 50’s and early 60’s and attended the great times at the LRC (Longfellow Recreation Center).
If you can remember these events — you have come to back to your ROOTS!
Do you remember going to Joe’’s Grocery Store?
What do you remember that was special about Joe?
How about picking out the penny candy?
Remember if you were lucky to have a quarter, you could get a Rush’’s Pie and a Pop?
Do you remember the janitor at the Longfellow School – POPS Clark ?
Do you remember going to buy candy from “Shorty” Whissiel at his store on Dewey?
How about buying candy from Harry Harding at the store at Cook’’s Motel?
How about buying a Moby Dick at the Donnabelle Drive Inn for 35 cents?
How about walking from the Donnabelle across Harrison Ave to the Carnival that was always between Moran’’s Grocery and the White Swan?
How about the Wednesday nights at the movies at the LRC?
How about the Friday nights at the “mixers” at the LRC?
How about the “pot luck” dinners and Mother’s Day Breakfasts at the LRC?
How about cold nights skating on the ice-rink that was on the baseball field next to the LRC?
